Camp David 2022 Expectations
"You've got to be joking." Those words ran through my mind the instant my mother suggested I went for a camp...a Christian camp. This was sometime in 2021 and I couldn't quite wrap my head around how a Christian teen camp would be of any benefit to my life, much less be "fun". "No thank you," were my words in reply to the proposition, little did I know what I was missing out on...
Fast forward to sometime in October, I had joined David's Army (talk about fate...) and so far, rarely has there been an instance where we're gathered and someone doesn't bring up Camp David. The activities and events portrayed so vividly, I could breathe in the camp air, feel the atmosphere even. It was in one of these conversations that I realized that the very period of the year Camp David ran coincided with that of the camp my mum wished I attended, then it dawned on me... THAT WAS CAMP DAVID!!!!
Ever since that realization, I was brimming with regret to the extent that if you weren't careful, you might even feel pity for me. However, my regret on missing Camp David 2021 spurred me on to boldly declare that I would do everything in my power, I'll even borrow power if need be (Abeg o, Christ is my source...before some funny funny ideas come in😂) to make it to Camp David 2022. Why? Allow me to dive in...
PRAISE NIGHTTT!!! If any event has the most glamour and shimmer, it's this. I mean, if you've ever been opportuned to be at a WORSHIP service, well congrats, because you've gotten a taste of praise night. You know something is hooge when you can close your eyes when someone's narrating it to you and it's as though you're there, and boy is it a way to kickoff the camp David experience. And to my fellow fellas who get a kick out of competition, you won't be left out trust me.
What's a camp experience without fun and games? Ladies and gents I give you, CAMP WARS, so sharpen your swords and polish your shields beca- oh sorry, wrong narrative... I sort off drifted to Percy Jackson's camp half-blood experience. Then again, if you've a picture of how fun that is, imagine it bigger! And if you don't, we all know the thrills and high-octane level of excitement during inter-house sports, there you go (thank me later *wink*). All in all, I get restless with excitement whenever I think of Camp David, and you should too. I mean, what better way is there to draw closer to our Father and still have tons of fun, go on, I'm listening 😂... Sadly, at the bottom of this bottle of activities we have the climax, the end, the part everyone seems to dread, the part I refuse to think about till I get to that bridge- the bridge I'll cross knowing that I would be leaving with way more that I came in with; the part you can't experience unless you show up *wink*. This teenager looks forward to seeing at Camp David 2022, that's my CAMPaign, adiosss.
